..... A long time ago!
Dear cyber space,
The world seems to have gone a little crazy and things have been turned upside down but we will come out the other side of this! A lot of what I have whittered about when I was visiting here before seems a little insignificant now in the grand scheme of things and maybe once we're through this people will focus on life in a different way, hopefully we'll be kinder to each other and take time to stop and breath and 'just be' more often.
As we all have a little more time on our hands I think we have all become a little more aware and finally we get to stop and immerse ourselves in things we always 'put off until tomorrow' or fancy having a go at but 'never have the time' I know as a creative along with my husband and many, many of our friends and colleagues in the creative world we have all stepped up to the plate and taken it as our responsibility to help people through these strange times with song, laughter, dance, art and craft and many other ways we can be creative to lose ourselves and just be.
I have been so moved and awed by the creative community in recent days that I felt the need to pen a letter to all, I posted it across social media and have decided to leave it here too so when I look back in a while, when we are on the other side of this, I can remember the pride I feel in all of us.
My letter 21st March 2020
'A shout out to the worlds creatives! I am proud of us!
My heart is full of pride seeing all the ways in which us creatives are pulling together and filling social media with love and light. From Singers and Musicians to Comics and Entertainers, from Dancers and Artists to Crafters and everyone else in between that is sharing their given talent to keep people entertained, learn something new and basically stay sane.
We know we’re not rocket scientists, we won’t be the ones to make you feel well or find a cure for this thing and some even say what we do isn’t ‘a proper job’ but it’s what we do, it’s who we are and the world would be a duller place without us all.
It’s a scarey time for us all as we are self employed and seeing Theatre’s go dark, clubs close, cruises cancelled, holiday camps shut, art exhibitions postponed, craft shows and workshops put on hold we could find a dark corner to hide in and go quietly mad but we don’t and we haven’t and we have turned our talents to keeping doing what we do just in a different way for a while.
We’ll be there to lift your spirits with a song, a laugh, a game show. We’ll be there to keep you fit with a dance routine. We’ll be there to keep you sane and allow your mind to drift to a new happy place with some paper and paints. We’ll be there to help you explore the creative side of you and maybe even learn something new.
So fellow creatives while we keep pulling together to shine a light in these dull times take a moment to be proud of us and the tribe we were born into and to you, dear reader, keep singing, dancing, laughing, painting and creating with us, that is the food that feeds our souls while we feed yours and as you pass us and maybe join please leave us a little love.'
I'm away now to do some more creating, take my daily walk with the woofs and find some time to just be. I'll be back with some more waffle soon and until then wherever you are please stay safe and find some creativity to stay sane
